Create Lessons from Any Text in Vocabilis

One of the hardest parts of building your own language-learning system is not reviewing words.

It is preparing the material.

You may already have a good textbook, a phrasebook, a dialogue, a list of useful expressions, or a page from a self-study course. But turning that material into something you can actually review takes time.

You need to copy phrases, translate them, extract important words, find useful word combinations, create cards, organize them into a lesson, and only then start learning.

That is exactly the kind of friction Vocabilis is meant to remove.

Vocabilis now has a new feature: Create Lesson from Text.

You can paste a piece of language-learning material, and Vocabilis will analyze it and turn it into a draft lesson.

What you can paste

The feature is designed for real learning material, not only clean word lists.

You can paste:

  • a page from a textbook;
  • a phrasebook section;
  • a dialogue;
  • a reading passage;
  • a vocabulary list;
  • example sentences;
  • mixed material with explanations, examples, and exercises.

Vocabilis tries to understand what kind of text it is looking at before creating cards from it.

That part is important.

A textbook page is rarely just a list of things to memorize. It may contain explanations, headings, instructions, examples, exercises, translations, dialogues, notes, and vocabulary. Not everything should become a flashcard.

The goal is not to blindly split the text into pieces.

The goal is to find the material that is actually useful for learning.

What Vocabilis creates

From the pasted text, Vocabilis can create different kinds of cards.

Phrases and sentences

Useful complete phrases, dialogue lines, and example sentences.

For example:

I have a reservation.
У меня забронирован номер.

Words

Important words from the text, especially if they appear in a vocabulary list or are central to the lesson.

reservation
бронь

Word combinations and chunks

Useful fragments inside phrases and sentences.

have a reservation
under the name
for two nights

These are often more useful than isolated words, because they show how the language actually works.

A lesson draft, not a black box

Vocabilis does not immediately force the generated result into your library.

First, it creates a draft.

You can review the generated cards, edit them, remove anything unnecessary, and keep only what makes sense for you.

This is important because AI-generated learning material should remain editable. The system can save time, but the learner should stay in control.

Why this matters

Many language learners already have good material.

The problem is that good material often stays passive.

A useful dialogue remains just a dialogue.
A textbook page remains just a page.
A phrasebook remains something you read once and forget.

Vocabilis helps turn that material into an active learning system.

You can take a text, extract the useful parts, create a lesson, and then review the material over time using spaced repetition.

This closes the gap between:

I found useful material

and:

I am actually learning it

Example

Imagine you paste this short dialogue:

Receptionist: Good evening. Do you have a reservation?
Guest: Yes, I have a reservation under the name Ivanov.
Receptionist: How many nights will you be staying?
Guest: Two nights.

Vocabilis can turn it into cards like:

Do you have a reservation?
У вас есть бронь?

I have a reservation under the name Ivanov.
У меня бронь на имя Иванов.

How many nights will you be staying?
На сколько ночей вы остановитесь?

reservation
бронь

under the name
на имя

Instead of manually creating every card, you start from a generated draft and refine it.

The first version is now live

The first version of Create Lesson from Text is now available in Vocabilis Online.

It is still an early version, and it will improve as we test it with more real learning materials: textbook pages, dialogues, phrasebooks, grammar lessons, and vocabulary lists.

But even in this first version, the direction is clear:

Vocabilis is becoming not just a place where you store flashcards, but a tool that helps you transform language material into structured lessons.

Paste a text.
Create a lesson.
Review what matters.
